Reliable information and thorough investigation conducted by our paper revealed that the country’s pioneer Teacher’s Institute under the leadership of the Director General, Professor Musa Garba Maitafsir has recorded the worst administration by introducing corrupt activities and series of fraud within the management level as well as conniving with outsiders in perpetrating their heinous activities.

Information revealed the Chief Executive Officer is awarding contracts and supply of materials to his own companies through his relatives and cronies. That he connived with the Bursary department and procurement by inflating contract sum. That the DG and his management team has hijacked all activities that are supposed to be handle by middle class staffs. Even the Duty Travel Allowance is not properly paid to staffs who are sent for assignments.

One Malam Salmanu who was redeployed from NTI office in Kebbi State to the Kaduna State NTI office for corruption and extortion students registration fees with the help of his accountant who is now dismissed is been posted to the office of Special Assistant to the DG where he is perpetrating his corrupt activities by aiding and abetting his principals in different ways. Even though he was also redeployed to a different department but his atrocities stands all over.

In a related development the DG after resuming as head of the Institute recruited relative’s and family friends as well as engaging them to out of station assignments without having the experience or technical know how of the said assignments which has negatively affected the work of supervision and Invigilating in the recent terminal examination of the Institute.

In the same vain since his appointment as the DG of the Institute he hardly stay in office to perform his primary responsibility rather he acted from a hotel room in Abuja ordering his Directors to take whatever file to Abuja for action. His Special Assistant one Yabo is well known is siphoning the Institute funds for his personal used and that of his principal. He was giving a traditional title in his village in Sokoto where he used the Institute funds for the celebration which include hotel reservation, feeding, renting horses, transportation, publication of calendars, flyers and Memo’s among other things.

There are Director’s who specializes in extorting huge amounts of money from students using trickish and dubious ways in connivance of state coordinators. Also the new Registrar Hajiya Fatima Jega lack the experience to supervise and monitor all activities right from within the Institute and the state offices where the Coordinators conspired by collecting huge amount of money from innocent students. It has been confirmed that controversies and inconsistencies has marred the institution under the present leadership of Professor Musa Maitafsir

Cases of insurbodination which involves the former Registrar, Malam Hamidu and a former Director of Force Mr. Obioha despite their punishment by Institute’s disciplinary committee is still lingering in the institution where two sets of Cabals are fighting, those loyal to Hamidu and the one loyal to Obioha. These has led to insurbodination and nepotism in the Institute. There’s also the urgent need to conduct a staff audit and verification exercise to fact check educational credentials of each and every staffs of the Institute. Also NCE, BSc and PGDE certificate issues by the Institute should be look into because some outsiders are conniving with the institute’s staff in issuing fake results to students who either attend the Institute or not.

We are appealing to President Bola Tinubu especially the Ministry of Education to investigate the abuse of office and maladministration in NTI as well as putting a stop to it. We also advised to look in the excesses of people like Adamu Musa who claimed to be Anti corruption chairman to be remove from the unti he is making hell of millions which he used to acquire plot of lands and houses among other things. Also there is a staff and also a former coordinator in the Kaduna State office who was transferred from Kebbi State over fraud related cases and few others who are masterminding and promoting procurement fraud in the Institute’s as well as fronting for their principals.
