KATSINA STATE GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES LAND SCOUTING FOR FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES

Katsina State Governor Mallam Dikko Umar Radda has taken a significant step towards advancing healthcare and education in the state. The governor has directed the state Ministry of Lands to initiate the search for suitable land to establish the Federal University of Health Sciences in Katsina State.

The directive was issued during an interactive session at the Government House Katsina, where Governor Radda engaged with the management of the institution led by its Vice Chancellor, Professor Bello Shehu.

Governor Radda expressed his commitment to the timely establishment of the university and pledged to provide temporary structures to facilitate the immediate take-off of the institution. Additionally, he assured the management staff of the university that suitable accommodations would be made available to support their operations.

In appreciation of the Federal Government’s approval for the establishment of the university, which is designated for the North West region in Katsina State, Governor Radda promised to extend all necessary support to ensure its successful launch.

Addressing the press after the meeting, Professor Bello Shehu, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, expressed gratitude to Governor Radda for his unwavering commitment to the prompt establishment of the institution. He commended the governor for not only providing temporary structures for the university but also for offering a facility to be used as a teaching hospital.

Professor Shehu emphasized that the Federal University of Health Sciences, one of six approved by the Federal Government for each geopolitical zone, is designed to produce a cadre of qualified medical professionals to address the healthcare needs of Nigerians.

The establishment of this university is a significant milestone for Katsina State and the entire North West region. It underscores the government’s dedication to promoting education and healthcare, which are vital components of sustainable development.

As the search for suitable land commences, the state government remains focused on delivering a world-class institution that will contribute to the advancement of healthcare services and medical education in Nigeria.
