Speaking to journalists  after the signing ceremony  at the Kaduna Public  Procurement Authority office ,the  Budeshi Program Director, Gift Omoidedia disclosed that the Public and Private Development Centre will be working with the State’s Procurement Agency closely  to provide  technical expertise and support.

She also said  Kaduna State has shown remarkable milestones in financial transparency and will be taking another giant step towards that by implementing the OCDS.

She further explained,  “The OCDS will ensure that all projects being carried out in the state is linked from the tendering stage to the project implementation stage using a unique identifier”.

“This makes it easy for citizens to track the status of various projects being implemented in their communities.”

On why the organization  chose Kaduna, Omoidedia said ,”We decided  to partner with the state because of their willingness to open up their procurement data practices.

According  to her,  with the OCDS, projects can deliver better value for money and it will create a competitive level playing field for contractors.

The Director added,   “The Center would also be able to red flag contractors who do not implement projects and promote smarter analysis and better solutions”.

The Director General, Kaduna State Public Procurement Authority, Thomas Gyang received the delegation and signed the MoU on behalf of the government.

Kaduna State will be the first state government to adopt and implement the OCDS at the state level, while at the Federal level, PPDC is working with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA) to implement the OCDS.
